MENTOR

MENTORING

Mentoring, at its core, guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges, and makes them feel like they matter. This is what walking alongside mean. Mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on young people in a variety of personal, academic, and professional situations. We see that you can use woodworking as a way to mentor young people and this is why we are starting a woodworking studio. Ultimately, mentoring connects a young person to personal growth and development, and social and economic opportunity.

WOODWORKING STUDIO

We are in the process of utilizing a two car garage as a woodworking studio.

  • We see a place that when students walk through the doors, they are transported into a woodworking studio designed just for them.
  • We see a place where we will focus on teaching children age appropriate woodworking techniques — and tailored with safety in mind.  The goal is for the students to create and walk away having fun and get their creative juices flowing.
  • We see a place where children (ages 4 and up) work with prefabricated and unassembled wood items to sand, assemble and oil.
  • We see a place where advanced students (ages 10-18) create projects from scratch and using more advanced tools.
  • We see a place that along with woodworking skills, we will focus on encouraging them along the way to help them discover their creative side and guide them the significance of personal responsibility.

We see a place where we can offer classes:
